Westfield Gas & Electric began the planning and construction of a Citywide SONET based fiber optic network in 1994. Originally,  WG&E’s goal was to build a base system capable of supporting core Gas & Electric utility operations.  WG&E has continued to grow its telecom initiative by leveraging our existing physical and human resources. This natural extension of our current utility operations has allowed WG&E to support critical internal telecommunication requirements. As a byproduct,  WG&E has positioned its network to extend to municipal and commercial telecommunication applications, which help support the cost of the telecom network, while at the same time providing a value-added service to our respected customer base. WG&E has been providing intercity network communications for most school and municipal buildings throughout Westfield since 1996, and has captured the admiration of multiple large and small commercial customers with our unparalleled telecommunications solutions.

Our specialty is the ability to provide unlimited bandwidth for intercity high end network communications between facilities, but due to our multiple world wild internet backbone connections as well as strategic alignments with regional telecommunications companies,  WG&E can also provide networking and internet services well beyond the boundaries of Western Massachusetts.
