As a GIS Intern, you’ll work closely with our GIS specialists and engineers, supporting various initiatives. Your responsibilities may include:
- Data Collection & Management: Assisting with the collection, input, and maintenance of geospatial data for our gas, electric, and telecom networks.
- Mapping & Analysis: Creating and updating maps, performing spatial analysis, and generating reports to support operational planning, maintenance, and expansion projects.
- GIS Software Support: Gaining proficiency in industry-standard GIS software (e.g., Esri ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online) and assisting with troubleshooting and user support.
- Project Assistance: Contributing to special GIS projects, which could involve anything from asset management mapping to network optimization studies.
- Documentation: Helping to document GIS processes, procedures, and metadata.
Required Qualifications, Skills/Abilities and Knowledge:
- Current Enrollment: Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university, pursuing a degree in GIS, Geography, Environmental Science, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- GIS Coursework: Demonstrated coursework or foundational understanding of GIS principles and concepts.
- Software Familiarity: Basic familiarity with GIS software (e.g., Esri ArcGIS Desktop/Pro, QGIS) is a plus.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an eagerness to learn.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in data handling.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Team Player: Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Program Details
- Duration: Fall 2025 through Summer 2026.
- Hours: Up to 20 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during breaks and summer.
- Location: This is an on-site position at our office in Westfield, MA.
