The Westfield Gas and Electric is looking to hire a full time Junior Software Developer. $65,133 MIN

The Junior Software Developer will work closely with senior developers and other App Dev peers, and periodically interface with business analyst and business departments creating application components and processes that promote enhanced business capability, efficiency, and performance. They will assist with a variety of tasks including requirements analysis, application component design, system integration, and system deployment. The Junior Software Developer will assist with the evaluation, testing, and deployment of new software technologies. They will be encouraged to advance their technical knowledge through a variety of means.

Duties and Responsibilities include:

• Application component development and integration for large scale applications
• Assisting in the evaluation, testing, and deployment of new software development technologies, development environments, application user experience trends, computing techniques, data handling methodologies, and reporting mechanisms
• Assisting with business process analysis and automation
• Assisting with high level project management activities
• Supervised database interaction
• Documentation of software and system architecture, maintenance processes, etc.
• High level troubleshooting and maintenance activities (bug fixes)
• Participation in App Dev department presentations

Qualifications and Entrance Requirements

• Associate degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree is a plus).
• Software design, coding, and troubleshooting experience.
• Experience with a variety of software development languages including PHP, Java, JavaScript, HTML, CSS.
• Familiarity with a variety of integrated development environments.
• Basic understanding of databases.
• Experience in Natural Gas, Electric, and Fiber Optic utilities is a plus but not required.
• Ability to work closely and efficiently with teammates
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Experience in software productivity tools is a plus.
• Willingness to advance personal knowledge and take on challenges.
