Plan Ahead for Winer: Energy Assistance Programs Available

We know how important it is for every household to stay safe and warm—especially when budgets are tight. WG+E partners with several local organizations to make sure low-income families and ratepayers experiencing financial hardship can get the support they need.

If you or someone you know could benefit from assistance, these local programs are ready to help:

  1. Valley Opportunity Council (VOC): A federally-funded program aimed at helping low-income families and individuals pay their heating bills during the winter. The level of assistance is based on household income and family size. For more information or to begin the application process, contact the Valley Opportunity Council at 413-552-1548.
  2. Salvation Army Good Neighbor Energy Fund: The Massachusetts Good Neighbor Energy Fund provides energy assistance to residents in temporary crisis who are struggling to pay their energy bills and slightly ineligible according to the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program.   3. Way Finders: Continues to assist many WG+E customers experiencing a financial hardship due to the impact of the pandemic. They work closely with the Massachusetts Department of Housing & Community Development (DHCD) to provide services for safe living environments and financial assistance for past due utilities.   4. Westfield Warm Fund: Customers who qualify for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program and continue to make monthly payments on their accounts may request additional assistance through our community fund. For more information, call us at 413-572-0100 or email Betsy at bloiko@wgeld.org.
