Thank you to everyone who came out to WG+E/Whip City Fiber Night at the Starfires! We had a great turnout (new record attendance!), and it was wonderful to see so many of our customers and neighbors enjoy the game together. While the Starfires didn’t walk away with a win, the night ended on a high note with a fantastic fireworks show. We’re proud to support our local team and wish them the best for the rest of the season!

Summer is here in Westfield, and on really hot days, we may ask customers to help reduce electricity use during peak hours—usually in the late afternoon and evening. While these Summer Energy Alerts are voluntary, if we all do our part, they can make a big difference in what we pay for power all year. Your small changes can help to keep rates low for all of Westfield. Whether you’re at home or running a business, simple actions like pre-cooling or waiting to run larger appliances like clothes washers and dryers as well as dishwashers until after peak hours can go a long way. Watch for emails and our social media for alerts on days that you can help.

At the end of June, we were proud to take part in the groundbreaking ceremony for the new athletic facilities at Westfield High School. This exciting project is a partnership between WG+E/Whip City Fiber, the City of Westfield, and Westfield Public Schools—and it will bring major upgrades to the school’s sports complex, including new turf fields, a lighted track, and stadium that students and families can enjoy for generations. We are funding the project through revenue from our Whip City Fiber division. As a community-owned utility, we are grateful to be in a position where we can look for meaningful ways to invest in Westfield’s future.

Continuing with Whip City Fiber, construction is wrapping up in the North Elm Street area—stretching from Union Avenue to Princeton Street—and we’re excited to now offer gigabit speeds to businesses on the north side of downtown. This area is home to a variety of local shops, services, and commercial spaces. If your business or home is in this area and you’re ready to make the switch, visit whipcityfiber.com to get started.

As always, we’re here for you—whether that means responding quickly to a service issue, helping with paying your bill, or supporting local events this summer. It’s all part of our commitment to Westfield and the people who make it so special.

Thank you for your continued trust in Westfield Gas + Electric/Whip City Fiber. We’re honored to serve you and wish you a safe, sunny, and memorable summer.

Sincerely yours,

Tom Flaherty, General Manager
