As we transition into fall and the cooler months, Westfield Gas + Electric (WG+E) is encouraging customers to sign up for Two-Way Texting to quickly report power outages and receive important updates about their address when the lights go out.
Since launching its new outage management system in 2021, WG+E has offered both the Outage Tracker App and Two-Way Texting to help customers stay informed during outages. As customer preferences have shifted towards texting, the WG+E Outage Tracker App will be retired on September 18th and will no longer be available after that date. Customers who currently use the app are encouraged to enroll in Two-Way Texting to continue reporting outages and receiving updates.
“During storms and other unexpected outages, keeping customers informed is one of our top priorities.” said General Manager Tom Flaherty. “WG+E’s Two-Way Texting provides a simple, reliable way to report outages and receive updates, helping customers stay connected when they need information most.”
Customers can register their mobile phone online. Once enrolled, simply text 1-888-525-1834 using the following commands:
- OUT - Report a power outage at your address.
- STATUS - Receive the latest outage update and estimated restoration time, if available.
- HELP - View a list of available text commands.
- STOP - Opt out of outage text messages.
- WGE - Re-enroll if you’ve previously opted out.
As the season changes, now is a great time to make sure your contact information is up to date and your household is ready before severe weather strikes. A few minutes of preparation today can make all the difference when the power goes out. For more information visit our Outage Center to learn how to report outages and sign up for notifications.
